Faceless by Alyssa Sheinmel. Recommended by Charlotte ( Bury Library Computer Centre).
When Maisie is struck by lightning, her face is partially destroyed. She’s lucky enough to get a face transplant, but how do you live your life when you can’t even recognize yourself? Maisie has to figure out both who she really is, and what ‘lucky’ really means.
‘Faceless’ is about a teenage girl called Massie who after a freak accident involving an electrical fire, loses a large proportion of her face to server burns. She is lucky enough to meet the criteria for a face transplant. It follows through her journey of accepting her new face, and how she changes and evolves as a person through her experience and the people she meets. The subject matter behind the story was researched very well, and I enjoyed this book immensely.’ Charlotte
