Junior Bloggers – A celebration of great work.

We wanted to update you with the progress of our Junior Bloggers project and to share with you some photographs of how we celebrated its completion on the 8th May – Tea and Cakes with The Mayor and The Consort!

The children of class five, St Peter’s Primary school, have really done us proud. We now have twenty-eight junior book reviews, currently on display in Bury Library, that we can share with you on the blog. Over the coming weeks I will publish the children’s views about the books that they chose; it might just give some of our other junior members some inspiration when choosing their next read.

Class five returned to Bury Library to share their work with our brilliant library staff – who had created a display for our project and laid on refreshments. Everyone was encouraged to put their book into a category of either ‘loved it’, ‘hated it’ or ‘unsure’ before we settled ourselves down to share some of the reviews. The Mayor was kind enough to bring along two books and to share why they are really important to him; one kindled a life long love of history and the other he read to every class he taught during his career in local Primary Schools.

I hope the photos and this short film give you a sense of what a really enjoyable morning this was at Bury Library. A huge thank you to everyone who has been involved in making this project such a success.

We hope to recruit more Junior Bloggers from local schools in the future. If you are interested in working with Bury Libraries please contact us at library.reader@bury.gov.uk. to discuss possibilities.

  1. It certainly does look great wish I could have been a fly on the wall. Well done to all concerned -more power to your elbow.
